Star Awards 2005 Encore telecast: Sat, Dec 10, 11.30pm on Ch U Sun, Dec 11, 3pm on Ch 8
The annual event of the year Star Awards 2005 is here! The highly-anticipated awards ceremony will be bigger and brighter this year! For the very first time, Star Awards 2005 will be telecast 'live' over 2 Chinese channels!
The glitzy awards ceremony will be held on Sun, Dec 4 2005 and will be telecast “live” at 7pm on MediaCorp TV Channel 8, with simulcast on Channel U at 7.30pm. Look out also for the pre-show telecast at 6.30pm and post-show telecast at 10pm on Ch U.
This year, the awards ceremony is ever more significant with the honouring of an extended family of stars and creative personnel since the merger of MediaWorks with MediaCorp.
On the drama front, ex-MediaWorks artiste Adrian Pang's humourous portrayal of resident oddball Zhou Dadi in Portrait of Home I has earned him a Best Actor nomination. However, when compared against fellow nominees Chen Hanwei (a spurned lover in A Life of Hope), Huang Wenyong (an abusive husband in Destiny) and Christopher Lee's (a simpleton in A New Life) more 'extreme' roles, Adrian's role seems tame. But will he stand out with his hilarious and yet heartwarming performance as the infatuated Dadi?
First-time nominees include Darren Lim and Jesseca Liu for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress respectively. Motormouth Bryan Wong who rejoined MediaCorp has garnered two nominations - Best Comedy Performer and Best Variety Show Host. Fellow ex-MediaWorks colleagues Quan Yifeng and Kym Ng also earned nominations in the Best Variety Show Host category.
Frequent fliers on the Star Awards nomination roll call include Huang Biren, Fann Wong, Andrew Seow, San Yow, Hong Huifang, Mark Lee, Patricia Mok and Zhang Wenxiang.
Closely watched will be the category of Best Drama Series. Will mega family drama Portrait of Home triumphed over touching drama A New Life, sci-fi drama Beyond The Axis of Truth II, eye-candy idol swimming drama The Champion or swordfighting drama The Dragon Heroes? Who will go home empty-handed and who will be popping champagne?
And of course, who can forget the highly anticipated popularity roll call - Top 10 Most Popular Male/Female Artistes. With an extended family of artistes, who will make it to the coveted list this time?
Tune in to the 'live' telecast on Sun, Dec 4 2005 at 7pm on MediaCorp TV Channel 8, with simulcast on Channel U at 7.30pm. Look out also for the pre-show telecast at 6.30pm and post-show telecast at 10pm on Ch U.
