Star Search 2007 Grand Debut ?Let’s Dance! *Exclusive videos included!
August 21, 2007
Stars are hard to find and definitely harder to make. The Star Search Top 20 aren’t just attending acting classes, they’ve also been busy jiggling their bodies for the grand debut of Star Search 2007 tonight. We pop by one of their dance classes for a look at how well (or not) they’re doing.

Get more from Star Search with our ‘Live? On Web from 7.55pm! You’ll be getting ‘live?feed from Channel 8, views from two other studio cameras in the MediaCorp Theatre, and one camera following Y.E.S.93.3FM DJ Tan Liyi as she roves around reporting backstage! In his first class with his two students, Star Search mentor Chen Hanwei said, “Don’t do anything that looks ugly; if you dance badly, try your hardest to improve; if not, don’t dance.?
Unfortunately, none of the 20 contestants had the choice of opting out from their jazz dances in the debut show tonight. Fortunately though, after more than 18 hours of lessons with dance instructor Zaki, we can assure you that your irritating brother won’t be gloating about how Grandma can dance better than them?or most of them anyway.
Contestants like Taiwan’s Huan Kuan Chieh Reeve and Pan Hung Hsi Celia, Malaysia’s Khor Jia Young Raynard and Singapore’s Chen Bang Jun Andie show exceptional niftiness and suaveness. Taiwanese twins Chang Haoyi and Chang Haoying have also joined several dance competitions back home.
Nevertheless, there are some whom Zaki needed more time to save; like resident hulk and three-time triathlon participant Jackson Tan who does wonders in his running shoes but lack the impact, softness and tempo in his performance. Next casualty is Lin Kelun, who appears nervous and isn’t flexible enough.
If their jazzy dance numbers ?the guys to the song Fever and the girls to Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps ?don’t interest you enough, their outfits should do the job. Get tips on how to look dashing as you try to figure out who’s who in the mass display of black-&-white get-ups, and the pretty girls strutting around in red satiny dresses.
And to feed your insatiable appetite even more, we are launching our all-new ‘Live? On Web feature tonight at 7.55pm! Not only will you be able to view the Channel 8 ‘live?feed online, you can also obtain views from two other studio cameras in the MediaCorp Theatre, and follow Y.E.S.93.3FM DJ Tan Liyi around backstage as she interviews the contestants in real time.
So see you online from 7.55pm every Tuesday from tonight!
